Senior Paralegal/ Litigation Clerk

Job Summary
Prepare advanced legal documents under attorney supervision, including responsive pleadings, ex parte applications, and noticed motions. Conduct client intakes, interviews, and follow-up appointments while maintaining and updating client files and internal databases. Assist in responding to and propounding discovery, and provide complex litigation support including trial preparation and accompanying attorneys to court hearings. Mentor and train team members, help recruit and onboard volunteers and interns, and coordinate development of new templates for legal pleadings. Ensure accurate data entry to support program evaluation and outcomes tracking.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet state requirements to perform paralegal work in California as defined in the California Business and Professions Code §6450 including one of the following: Completion of a paralegal certificate program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), or Completion of 24 semester units of paralegal education at a state-approved or accredited institution, or Completion of a bachelor's degree in any field combined with one year of law-related experience under the supervision of a three...
- At least two years of experience drafting legal documents, supporting litigation efforts, and managing case files in a legal setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft and proofread legal documents and convey complex information clearly
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and sound judgement
- Experience working directly with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with an understanding of the systemic barriers they may face
- Ability to exercise discretion, handle sensitive information appropriately, and provide compassionate service to clients in crisis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and other office software; experience managing online calendars and setting appointments
- Some evening or weekend work may be required
- This is a hybrid role. Employees may be able to work from home two (2) regularly scheduled days a week after thirty (30) days of employment. Staff must remain responsive during standard business hours while working remotely.
Desired Qualifications
- At least three (3) years of litigation paralegal experience strongly preferred
- Experience working in housing justice, legal aid, or social services settings
- Salesforce or other legal/case management database experience is a plus
