Job Summary
Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP seeks a Senior Paralegal, IP Disputes to support lawyers engaged in IP disputes and litigation. The role emphasizes understanding litigation motion practice, discovery, trial and appellate procedures; ADR methods related to IP rights; reading and understanding technical papers including patents, copyrights, and trademarks; trial preparation, document management, and e-filing; and coordinating large portfolios with strong communication and multitasking under tight deadlines. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and requires a bachelor’s degree with 5+ years patent-paralegal experience (or 9 years in lieu of a degree). This is a full-time, senior-level paralegal role in a global IP team with offices in multiple locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant patent paralegal experience
- In lieu of bachelor’s degree, 9 years of relevant patent paralegal experience
- Understanding of litigation procedures and patent-related procedures, including IPRs and PGRs
- Knowledge of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office post-grant filing procedure
- Experience managing large volume portfolios
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at all levels of the organization and some external parties
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong judgement, initiative, integrity and be a dependable, highly motivated, team player
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- E-filing motions and other pleadings, including after-hours filings
- Knowledge of ADR methods and procedures relating to infringement of IP rights
- Ability to read and understand technical papers including patents, copyrights, and trademark secrets
- Assist with trial preparation, by drafting and organizing required documents and files
- Efficiently manage document files including correspondence, court papers, case records, and materials produced in the discovery process
- Familiarity with patent-related procedures, including IPRs and PGRs
- Understand litigation motion practice, discovery, trial, and appellate procedures
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
