Job Summary

Conduct litigation support for the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection by performing complex legal research, synthesizing transcripts, and drafting legal memoranda and correspondence. Synopsize hearing and oral argument transcripts for attorneys, review case materials to identify conflicting statements, and prepare exhibits for trial. Coordinate various litigation support services required by attorneys, including conducting witness interviews and drafting reports. Utilize electronic databases to conduct factual research, retrieve and analyze materials through data searches, and code substantive case materials. Review and research citations, footnotes, and textual references for accuracy while digesting substantive materials. This role involves working under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor with minimal direct supervision. Candidates must possess at least two years of litigation paralegal experience, familiarity with eDiscovery procedures, and advanced skills with Excel. The position requires travel up to 10% within the Continental US.

Required Qualifications

  • paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience
  • at least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order)
  • at least one year of experience in automated litigation support
  • sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
  • hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems, e.g., Relativity, Excel, JEFS/Box.com, Word, Teams, Power Point, and social media tools
  • hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure
  • Advanced skills with Excel
  • Professional, can-do, customer-service attitude
  • Ability to travel
  • Up to 10% travel
