Job Summary

Monitor U.S. and Canadian environmental packaging laws, assess regulatory impacts, and develop the company's position on extended producer responsibility, labeling, and recycled content restrictions. Analyze requirements, implement compliance assurance programs, and manage obligations including registration, reporting, and fee management for packaging and printed materials. Represent Sony's perspective through trade associations and industry platforms regarding proposed regulatory changes. Develop financial management processes to account for upcoming compliance costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and sustainability leadership. Register and report required compliance data with authorities, validate data, and support internal compliance review processes for locally planned projects as a subject matter expert.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental product compliance, environmental stewardship, regulatory affairs, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and their impact on business operations
  • Ability to analyze regulatory requirements and standards, assess compliance risks, and translate findings into business implications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address compliance challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong project management, data analysis, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Highly motivated and proactive in monitoring and responding to regulatory developments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the electronics industry
  • Familiarity with local, national, and international packaging and chemical regulations
  • Experience developing and implementing solutions to environmental compliance challenges
  • Experience with Power BI, SAP, BW, and/or Smartsheet
