Job Summary

Proactively review outside plant facilities to determine necessary upgrades and enhancements, then prepare cost estimates and attend preconstruction meetings for project designs. Coordinate with state, county, city, and national entities to gain information on planned projects, apply for all required permits, and maintain and investigate rights-of-way and easements. Act as the subject matter expert for all technical aspects of outside plant facilities, including cable sizing, counts, records, and As-Builts, while ensuring projects progress within budget and timeline. Provide guidance, support, and training to internal FTEs and external vendors, including mentorship and quality enforcement. Available to work regular business hours Pacific Standard Time and on-call evenings and weekends as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • advanced OSP fiber design experience
  • demonstrated ability to support projects through permitting, construction, and final completion
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
  • minimum of seven years' experience in an outside plant engineering position
  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years telecommunication outside plant fiber design including and inventory management experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state, and federal entities
  • demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout and capacities
  • valid driver's license
  • auto insurance
  • satisfactory driving record
  • complete a pre-employment drug screening
  • currently authorized to work in the US for any employer
  • maintain physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time
  • walking up to 2 miles when in the field performing duties
  • occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • frequently use hands and repetitive motions to drive stakes into ground using a hammer
  • close vision

  • ability to adjust focus
  • ability to perform all functions of operating a motor vehicle regularly and safely
  • Must be available to work regular business hours Pacific Standard Time
  • Must also be available to work on-call, evenings and weekends as needed
