Job Summary
Draft plans for and implement nonpartisan education and outreach activities to expand awareness of Common Cause's work. Present at coalition meetings, coordinate grassroots actions, and manage communications across social media, websites, and email. Build relationships with community partners, support research on democracy issues like voting rights, and assist with fundraising efforts including donor cultivation. Recruit, train, and mentor interns and volunteers while tracking legislative developments and drafting resources for public testimony. This full-time, temporary role begins October 1, 2026, and ends March 31, 2028, reporting to the State Director in Central Southern Minnesota. Candidates must be willing to travel at least three days per week to Rochester, Mankato, St. Cloud, and other parts of the state, and possess access to a vehicle for transporting election materials.
Required Qualifications

- Ability to build relationships and credibility with multiple stakeholders with diverse interests, and a track record of working collaboratively with others
- Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects at once, with attention to detail, and a resourceful approach to solving problems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with office productivity tools including Microsoft Office, Slack, and Zoom
- Demonstrated knowledge of and strong interest in current statewide democracy issues, including voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, disinformation, ethics, etc., with a demonstrated interest in the unique aspects of Minnesota's political dynamic
- Demonstrated interest in public interest advocacy campaigns and mobilization efforts, with a willingness to participate in advocacy efforts including protest, in accordance with Common Cause protocols
- Willing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged on posts and creating content on behalf of the organization (as needed, Common Cause may provide accounts for staff members to use)
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team and/or all staff retreats
- Ability to travel to and work in-person in Rochester, Mankato, St. Cloud, as well as other parts of Minnesota at least three days per week
- You must have access to a vehicle to transport election materials (miles driven on official business in your personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the federal mileage rate)
- Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party
- Common Cause is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time; please note that if hired, you will be asked to produce documentation for authorization to work in the US
