Job Summary
Senior Optical Systems Engineer to develop and validate EO/IR sensor and laser system payloads for space missions. Responsibilities include modeling and simulation of optical systems, designing and validating optical hardware (including star trackers and sensor suites), leading unit and system-level tests on ground and on-orbit, managing interfaces between payload, space vehicle, and mission-data processing teams, coordinating complex projects with budget/schedule tracking, and mentoring teammates. Requires strong background in spaceborne electro-optical sensor technology, experience with laser communication, and ability to obtain a security clearance. The role is based in El Segundo, CA, and requires US citizenship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or the physical sciences / computer science
- 7+ years industry experience in optical engineering
- Experience with space-to-space and/or space-to-ground laser communication
- Experience with performance/phenomenology/modeling of space-based EO sensors
- Ability to obtain US citizenship and security clearance
