Job Summary
Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join SYLUX in Goleta, CA. Lead development of optical-based ADAS cameras (including thermal infrared) from requirements through testing, supplier engagement, and cost-reduction efforts. Responsibilities include developing optical system requirements, supporting RFQ responses, supplier development, calibration improvement, image signal processing optimization, and verifying performance through analysis and hardware testing. Require 10+ years in automotive optical systems, MS/PhD in Optics/Physics/Systems Engineering, and expertise with optical design tools; experience with high-volume camera manufacturing, PPAP/safe-launch/8D processes; familiarity with cost-reducing optics technologies (e.g., metalenses, multi-level diffractive optics); travel ~Less than 10%.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years experience developing optical systems for automotive and/or equivalent high quality camera systems
- MS/Ph.D. in Optics, Physics and/or Systems Engineering
- Expertise with optical design tools
- High volume camera manufacturing experience, including validation, PPAP, safe-launch and 8D troubleshooting processes
- Familiarity with alternate optics technologies for reduced cost, e.g., metalenses and multi-level diffractive optics
