Senior Operator, Slag Handling

Operate machinery including bobcats, forklifts, and road sweepers to manage slag transfer from the operational pit to the scrap slag pit while ensuring safe skull weight limits. Conduct preventive equipment checks, clean radiators and filters, and maintain rigorous housekeeping standards across the slag handling section and surrounding roads. Manage shift handovers, coordinate manpower placement, and enforce standard operating procedures including the STOP safety program and correct PPE usage. Report operational abnormalities immediately to the supervisor. This role reports to the Shift Foreman or General Shift Superintendent on a general shift rota and requires a minimum of five years of experience.
