Job Summary

Conduct operational leadership for the warehouse and driver deliveries, overseeing loading/unloading, cross docking, and customer service while managing workforce and equipment scheduling. Evaluate truck runs for private fleet opportunities, review daily orders, and make corrective or disciplinary decisions up to the written warning level. Supervise logistics operations including dispatch, documentation, and procedure control, while ensuring compliance with financial policies, safety strategies, and regulatory agencies. Monitor attendance and productivity, interview hourly associates, and assist in training and relief coverage. Complete all necessary records and reports accurately, aligning activities with location-specific customer goals and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Involvement in the hiring process
  • Participation in customer meetings as necessary
  • Review of truck runs based on location of accounts, volume, costs, customer requirements and private fleet utilization
  • Review of daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities
  • Communication of specific and measurable performance standards
  • Interviewing hourly associates
  • Providing recommendations for hire
  • Monitoring attendance, productivity, and other performance markers
  • Providing counseling and/or recognition to associates as needed
  • Supervision of logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control
  • Evaluation and recommendation of changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of dispatch/warehouse operations
  • Assistance in new associate training
  • Providing relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift
  • Thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems
  • Ensuring operational compliance and correct exception resolution
  • Completion of all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc
  • Understanding of the relationship between decision-making and profitability
  • Closely managing associates' working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets
  • Ensuring day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy
  • Providing associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
  • Understanding of location-specific customer goals & objectives
  • Ensuring the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives
  • Determination of areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Proper planning of work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet/warehouse equipment
  • Ensuring associates understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
