Senior Operations Supervisor - Transportation (Supply Chain/Logistics)

Job Summary
Provide operational leadership to ensure execution of daily tasks including driver deliveries, loading/unloading, cross docking, and customer service. Supervise workforce and equipment scheduling, make corrective action decisions up to written warning level, and review truck runs for cost and utilization. Communicate performance standards, interview hourly associates, and monitor productivity while providing counseling or recognition. Manage logistics operations, dispatch, documentation, and new associate training; ensure compliance with safety strategies, financial policies, and regulatory agencies. Plan work assignments for effective fleet/warehouse equipment use and assist in continuous improvement efforts. Schedule Monday-Friday 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM with flexibility during peak seasons. Bonus eligibility based on performance and location.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems
- Ability to communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable
- Ability to interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire
- Ability to monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers
- Ability to provide counseling and/or recognition to associates
- Ability to make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level
- Ability to review truck runs based on location of accounts, volume, costs, customer requirements and private fleet utilization
- Ability to review daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities
- Ability to supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control
- Ability to evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of dispatch/warehouse operations
- Ability to assist in new associate training
- Ability to provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift
- Ability to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
- Ability to ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy
- Ability to provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
- Ability to properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet/warehouse equipment
- Ability to work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
- Ability to understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives
- Ability to determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts
- Ability to closely manage associates' working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets
- Ability to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc.
- Understanding of the relationship between decision-making and profitability
- Flexibility around the peak season, holiday, short staffed, and business needs
- Availability for Monday- Friday 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM
