Job Summary
Senior Operations Engineer III responsible for stabilizing and documenting legacy on-premise systems, expanding and refactoring IaC pipelines, and supporting cloud and on-prem deployments across UNIX/Linux and Windows environments. Will monitor, respond to incidents, maintain runbooks and documentation, mentor team members, and collaborate with Engineering to deploy new projects and upgrades. Requires strong cloud tooling (AWS, Terraform), automation and configuration management skills, robust scripting/programming capabilities, security posture alignment, and willingness to participate in on-call rotations; travel up to 10% and eligibility for U.S. security clearance. Fully remote within the U.S.; role emphasizes DevOps practices, observability, cost optimization, and cross-team partnership.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years hands-on UNIX/Linux system administration in a distributed enterprise environment
- 4+ years experience designing and implementing infrastructure as code within AWS using Terraform
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and support complex, legacy on-premise production environments and custom application stacks
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, etc) and one programming language (Python, Go, Ruby, etc)
- Mastery in DevOps discipline and processes supporting CD tools (CodePipeline, Jenkins, Git, Vagrant, Consul, JFrog, etc)
- Experience with migrating and educating teams to newer SDLC concepts
- Mastery of system virtualization in a highly available, clustered environment; strong familiarity with container ecosystem
- Mastery in config automation tools (AWS Config/SSM, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc)
- Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and Git toolset
- Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum & Waterfall processes
- Ability to obtain security clearance; current clearance or eligibility
- Location: Fully remote within the U.S.
- Travel up to 10%
