Job Summary
Senior Ombudsman in AFCA's Small Business & Transactions team. Lead and coach a team of Ombudsman and Adjudicators to deliver fair and consistent decisions in banking and finance disputes, with a focus on small business or transactions. Role includes providing technical leadership, coaching, and contributing to policy and process improvements, while engaging with industry groups, regulators, and AFCA members. Requires senior legal qualifications, strong banking/finance experience, independent accountability, leadership and mentoring capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly. Hybrid working arrangement with two days per week in AFCA offices; inclusive culture and flexible arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant legal qualifications
- Significant Banking and Finance/Small Business experience
- Sound knowledge of relevant financial services law, practice and/or other regulation
- Demonstrated experience operating in an independent capacity and with individual accountability for outcomes
- Demonstrated leadership experience or proven success in leading and coaching senior professionals
- Analytical skills and ability to draft complex legal concepts clearly
- High level communication, consultative and interpersonal skills
