Senior Officer, Communications supports municipal public information and media relations initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating interviews and media responses, managing media inquiries and deadlines, building professional relationships with journalists, and delivering comprehensive communications strategies for corporate initiatives. The role requires crafting and disseminating information using traditional and web-based channels, awareness of current trends in communications, and collaboration with City staff, elected officials, partners, printers, translators and advertising agencies. Skills emphasized include verbal and written communications, editing, organization of promotional/media events, ability to work independently and in a team, and the capacity to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Education required is a 4-year university degree in communications/journalism/public relations (or related field) with at least 3 years of related experience; language proficiency in French and English is required. Location is City Hall, Ottawa, Ontario; two positions exist: one permanent full-time and one temporary full-time up to 1 year, with 35 hours/week before considering any remote-work options.

Required Qualifications
