Job Summary
Senior Observability Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maturing the observability ecosystem that underpins FanDuel’s platform. Deliver deep visibility by combining system telemetry with user signals to drive reliability, performance, and user experience. Apply automation and AI-assisted workflows to improve root-cause analysis, alerting, and incident management; partner with engineering and product teams; establish best practices for monitoring, alerting, postmortems, and on-call processes; contribute to scalable observability solutions and cost-efficient platform improvements; mentor peers and contribute to reliability standards across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in observability engineering, SRE, platform engineering, or related roles
- Strong expertise in monitoring/observability practices with tooling such as Datadog
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Infra-as-code experience (Terraform)
- Ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate across teams
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts and practical trade-offs
- Experience defining and implementing SLOs/SLIs and alerting strategies
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go, Java, Python, TypeScript) and building tooling/automation
- Experience improving systems through automation and reducing operational toil
