Job Summary
Conduct 2nd level technical support for managed and unmanaged networks, performing proactive alarm management, network analysis, and health checks to restore services quickly. Troubleshoot network faults across multiple vendor platforms, manage escalated issues involving 3rd party vendors, and lead conference bridge directing activities during major service outages. Mentor and train NOC staff on technical and procedural items while validating escalations to 2nd and 3rd level support. Work closely with OSP, GIS, and field teams to ensure customer satisfaction and ticket resolution. Sunday through Wednesday shifts from 1pm to 12am with shift differential; eligible for on-call duties.
Required Qualifications

- Four to Six years Network Operations experience
- Equivalent to four to six years Network Operations experience
- Advanced 2nd line technical competency level
- In depth knowledge of Ethernet and IP
- Skills necessary to troubleshoot layers 1-4 of the OSI Model
- In depth knowledge of connection-oriented Ethernet standards including MPLS-TP, G.8032, PBB-TE
- In depth knowledge of industry protocols including IP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, VRRP, VLANs, Spanning tree, and 802.1q
- Solid optical troubleshooting skills using OTDR, OSA, BERT and optical power meters
- Experience with passive and active OADM & ROADM DWDM systems
- Expert knowledge of the operations and repair of telecommunications systems
- Expert knowledge of CYAN(Ciena) Z33/77
- Expert knowledge of Telco Sys 71xx / EdgeGenie
- Expert knowledge of Ciena 6500/One Control
- Expert knowledge of Adva
- Expert knowledge of Calix / CMS

- Sunday through Wednesday shift availability
- Willingness and ability to train NOC staff on technical, functional, and procedural items
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on Core Transport, Data/IP networks
- Experience completing 1st/2nd level diagnostics across multiple technologies and Vendors
- Experience with Network Edge, Transport and Access technologies such as DSL, GPON, SONET, and ROADM
- In depth knowledge of MEF and CE2.0 Ethernet products and standards
- In depth knowledge of y.1731 statistics collection
- In depth knowledge of y.1564 testing
