Job Summary
Senior Network Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructures, including Cisco routing/switching, firewalls, VPNs, and security devices. Tasks include configuring Cisco platforms (7600/6500/3750 series or equivalent), translating security requirements into device configurations, monitoring and troubleshooting network performance and security issues, managing ASA firewalls and IDS/IPS, and designing backbone networks with Cisco ACI concepts. Requires Linux networking expertise (iptables/nftables, VLANs, VPNs), experience with Linux-based network components, and automation tooling (KVM, Ansible, Bash, Python). Must be capable of leading technical efforts, producing architecture diagrams and design documents, and collaborating across teams; travel as needed. Telemetry includes ITAR compliance and a TS/SCI with polygraph requirement; salary range $150,000–$265,000; location in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, and network security in enterprise or mission-critical environments
- Significant hands-on experience with Cisco networking and security technologies (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS)
- Demonstrated, practical experience with Linux networking and Linux systems in an operational or production environment
- Experience with tools/technologies such as KVM, Ansible, Bash, Python, VPN, and firewall configuration
- Proven ability to design and document networked systems and architectures
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues
- Self-starter capable of operating independently in small teams with limited ramp-up time or mentoring resources
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
- Willingness to travel as needed to support operations, testing, or deployments
