Job Summary
Senior NETA Field Technician responsible for electrical testing, maintenance, and startup of high voltage substations. Performs troubleshooting, generates technical reports, and interfaces with clients while prioritizing safety with zero tolerance for unsafe practices. Requires an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of high voltage experience. Must possess knowledge of protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, metering, grounding, and motor starters; familiarity with IEEE/NETA standards; strong communication and teamwork skills; valid driver’s license; TWIC card eligibility; ability to travel up to 25% and undergo pre-employment drug/background checks. Travel to job sites is required; adjusted work schedules and overtime may be needed. Travel and site work are essential aspects of the role.
Required Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is required
- Minimum 2 plus years of experience in the high voltage industry is preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a TWIC card
- Must pass pre-employment Drug, Alcohol and Background Checks; must continue to pass all random and client required Drug, Alcohol and Background Checks
- Travel to job sites is required (up to 25%)
- Ability to travel up to 25% with flexibility for frequent overtime required
- Demonstrated knowledge of The Power Triangle
- Understanding of one-line, three-line, AC/DC schemes
- Protection relays and relay systems knowledge
- Understanding of transformers (power transformers, PT, CCVT, CT)
- Knowledge of metering configurations
- Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, ICEA, NETA standards
- Proven communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments
