Job Summary

Lead multi-method NDT technical authority and senior welding/steel inspection manager, developing procedures, overseeing program compliance under AWS D1.1/D1.5 and ASME standards, and interpreting advanced techniques including PAUT and TOFD. Train, qualify, and mentor regional inspection personnel while supporting radiation safety officer functions and QMS accreditation initiatives. Coordinate client-facing project management responsibilities, manage proposals and prequalification packages, and build laboratory testing capacity to expand market access. Requires ASNT Level III and AWS CWI certifications, 10+ years of progressive experience, and 25–40% travel. Director-level full-time role at Atlas, a leader in environmental and infrastructure consulting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of progressive NDT and/or steel/welding inspection experience in construction, heavy fabrication, or industrial environments
  • Current ASNT NDT Level III certification in one or more methods (UT, RT, MT, PT)
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • Demonstrated experience training and qualifying inspection personnel under a written practice
  • Working knowledge of AWS, ASME, and API codes and standards
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally as project needs require, including multi-week field assignments (estimated 25-40% travel during active deployments)
  • Comfortable operating in a senior, client-facing capacity; self-directed and capable of building programs, not just executing tasks
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to drive as required for the role
  • Strong communication skills, with experience interfacing with clients, engineers, and field teams

  • Experience developing NDT procedures and written practices
  • Technical report writing and inspection documentation experience
  • Proficiency with UT/PAUT/TOFD instrumentation and analysis software (e.g., ES-BeamTool, TomoView)
  • VBA experience
  • Knowledge of structural steel and welding codes (AWS D1.1/D1.5), pressure piping codes (ASME B31 series), and the NYC-metro special inspection environment
