Job Summary
Senior NDE Technician/Certified Welding Inspector based in Rochester, NY, will perform and oversee structural steel, welding, and nondestructive testing inspections across client sites. Responsibilities include conducting VT, PT, MT, RT, and UT inspections, performing Certified Welding Inspection duties per AWS codes, interpreting drawings and inspection codes to meet acceptance criteria, ensuring procedures are followed and results documented, preparing inspection reports, mentoring junior inspectors, and communicating findings to project managers, engineers, regulators, and clients. Travel to field sites and collaboration with multiple stakeholders are required. Requires 5+ years in NDT/welding inspection, CWI or two Level II certifications, HS diploma, strong communication and leadership skills, and ability to travel. Based in Rochester, with regional travel.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in nondestructive testing, welding inspection, or related inspection services
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or two Level II certifications in RT, PT, MT, VT, or UT
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to document required training and discipline hours for certifications held
- Strong understanding of nondestructive testing methods, welding inspection procedures, applicable codes, and safety practices
- Ability to work independently in both field and laboratory environments
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to field sites, including in inclement weather conditions
- Ability to comply with company drug testing and background check requirements
