Job Summary
Senior Naval Architect - Team Lead responsible for guiding a portion of the NA Team across Halifax, Ottawa, or Victoria. Support the Capability Manager, may perform management duties during absences, and oversee allocation of work, timesheet reviews, and performance evaluations including Personal Development Plans. Establish regular one-on-one meetings, motivate and develop team members, and identify training needs. Assist with hiring processes and contribute to department strategies and initiatives. Lead team meetings to share best practices and set expectations, provide guidance to ensure quality and guideline compliance, and support leadership in promoting team members to meet performance goals. This role requires an engineering degree, at least 10 years of naval architecture experience, professional-engineering registration eligibility, Canadian security clearance eligibility, strong leadership and recruitment experience, and excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to present to senior leaders and executives. Hybrid work arrangement is offered in the listed Canadian cities.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Naval Architecture
- Existing registration or ability to obtain registration with Professional Engineering governance body in Province of work
- Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
- Demonstrated team leadership experience
- Experience within the marine, naval, defense or government sectors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience participating in recruitment and interviewing processes
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable present and briefing senior leaders and executives
