Senior Mortgage Reconciliation Accountant

Job Summary
Prepare and analyze complex mortgage accounting reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring balances are complete, accurate, and supported by source documentation. Research and resolve differences between mortgage servicing systems, Workday, investor reporting, and custodial records to identify root causes and sustain resolution. Maintain high-quality reconciliation documentation, validate support against source systems, and coordinate with Mortgage Servicing, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Internal Audit to obtain data and validate corrective actions. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities by preparing variance explanations and reconciliation summaries for leadership. Identify process improvement opportunities, develop templates and issue trackers, and recommend automation to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of five to seven years of progressive accounting, reconciliation, audit, or financial services experience
- Experience preparing and resolving complex account reconciliations
- Experience within a credit union, bank, mortgage servicer, public accounting firm, or other highly regulated financial services environment

- Experience with Workday
- Experience with mortgage accounting, mortgage servicing, loan operations, secondary market activity, investor accounting, escrow accounting, mortgage servicing rights, or related financial institution accounting
- Equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience
