Job Summary
Senior Mortgage Underwriter at Texana Bank evaluates loan applications for residential mortgages, verifies credit and supporting documents, ensures compliance with investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, Rural Development), and maintains loan documentation accuracy. The role involves working with loan originators or production staff to obtain required documents, potentially collaborating with other senior underwriters on loan exceptions, and responding to individual and investor audits. Responsibilities include adhering to product guidelines, maintaining regulatory compliance with minimal loan defects, driving quality standards, managing the pipeline and timelines, improving processes and mortgage loan system efficiencies, and effectively communicating decisions and their justification to relevant parties.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Residential Mortgage Underwriting
- Conventional Agency experience required
- Non-Conforming, Jumbo, FHA, VA, Bond Program experience preferred
- Experience with customer service, decision making, and analyzing information
- Excellent organizational, written and telephone communication skills
- Deep understanding of pipeline management and system supported workflows
- Strong understanding of multiple investor guidelines and regulatory compliance
