Senior Mold & Tooling Technician III

Job Summary

Lead root cause analysis of complex tooling failures and own tooling reliability to drive long-term performance improvements. Perform high-complexity machining and restoration of molds, applying advanced repair technologies like laser welding and coatings. Oversee critical fits, tolerances, and final validation while analyzing wear patterns to recommend material or component improvements. Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 team members, provide technical guidance, and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime and scrap reduction. Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve tooling issues and support new tool launches. Starting hourly rate: $39.75. Requires 5–8+ years of experience in mold repair and expert knowledge of GD&T and CAD/CAM. Hybrid work policy with an average of 3 days per week in the office.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in mold repair, toolmaking, or injection molding tooling
  • Expert knowledge of mold systems, materials, and wear mechanisms
  • Strong proficiency in GD&T, CAD/CAM, and advanced machining
  • Proven leadership in technical problem-solving
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as needed
  • Ability to work at micron-level precision where required
  • Strong capability in dimensional analysis and variation reduction
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and system optimization

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred Experience in mold design or tooling engineering
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience
  • Experience with high-cavitation or tight-tolerance tooling environments
  • Advanced understanding of tolerances, fits, and precision measurement systems
