Job Summary
Senior Mobile Software Engineer to help build secure, reliable, and performant React Native mobile experiences for Australians navigating property buying and home finance. You’ll work at the intersection of product, design and engineering to deliver features used by customers and brokers, operating in a regulated domain where quality and security matter. You’ll engage with AI-assisted development (Claude Code) and OpenSpec-driven proposals to guide implementation, review agent-generated code, and evolve development practices. The role involves leading architecture for the app (navigation, data/domain layers, stores, Expo config plugins, and native integrations via Expo Modules API), building shared internal npm packages, collaborating with product/design/backend teams, ensuring security, instrumentation, monitoring, and CI/CD contributions. Location is Sydney or Brisbane with on-site collaboration 2 days per week; hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of professional software development with significant, current commercial experience in React Native (TypeScript)
- Proven delivery of production apps on iOS and Android with deep platform knowledge
- Secure mobile development fundamentals (encryption in transit/at rest, Keychain/Keystore usage, safe storage & transport of sensitive data)
- Authentication & authorization knowledge (OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect)
- Strong testing discipline (unit and component tests in CI)
- Backend integration experience (REST/GraphQL) including auth flows, resilience and error handling
- Production ownership (telemetry, debugging, incident mitigation, post-incident improvement)
- Clear, collaborative communication with cross-functional teams
- Desirable: Expo experience (SDK, EAS Build/Update, config plugins)
- Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and code reviews
- Mentor and support other engineers
