Job Summary
Senior Migration Architect to lead cloud transformation for the United States Coast Guard at C5ISC in Alexandria, VA. Lead complex cloud migrations from planning through execution, assess legacy systems for cloud readiness, design modernization strategies including containerization and microservices, develop migration methodologies with minimal disruption, establish governance for cloud operations, and drive DevOps/infrastructure-as-code adoption. Design scalable, secure cloud architectures for AWS/Azure, create reference architectures and design patterns, mentor teams, ensure security/compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR where applicable), optimize costs, and manage multi-cloud strategies with a focus on governance and cost efficiency. Strong technical leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and extensive documentation appropriate for executive audiences are required. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), 8+ years of cloud experience, and proficiency across AWS/Azure with emphasis on migration frameworks (6 R's), CSPM, IAM, and security best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years IT experience
- 8+ years cloud architecture and implementation experience
- 4+ years AWS and Azure experience
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Kubernetes
- Security and compliance experience (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP)
- Ability to lead architectural reviews and senior-level communication
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or MBA with technical background
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- CISSP or CISM for security focus
- TOGAF 9 Certified
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- GA or equivalent certifications indicating cloud maturity and security
- Experience leading cloud transformation projects >$1M
