Job Summary
Senior Middleware Engineer responsible for architectural leadership and end-to-end governance of enterprise messaging ecosystems. Owns design, deployment, performance, reliability, and security of middleware platforms (RabbitMQ, Redis, Azure Service Bus) across development, staging, and production; drives integration patterns, observability, and incident response; mentors engineers and produces ADRs and runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software or platform engineering experience with 4+ years in middleware/integration platforms
- Expert-level hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, and Azure Service Bus in production
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts (eventual consistency, idempotency, at-least-once vs exactly-once)
- Experience designing and implementing event-driven microservices and integration patterns (EIP)
- Proficiency in C# (or Java/Python/Go) and at least one primary language for integration workloads
- Hands-on Kubernetes/container orchestration for middleware workloads
- IaC experience with Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible
- Strong observability skills (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana) and structured logging
- Experience with secure middleware configuration (TLS/mTLS, certificate rotation, secrets management)
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, produce architecture decisions and mentor engineers
- Desirable: Kafka or Azure Event Hubs experience
- Desirable: MassTransit, NServiceBus, or Rebus frameworks
- Desirable: service mesh (Istio, Linkerd, Azure Service Mesh)
- AZ-204/AZ-305 certifications desirable
- Familiarity with CQRS, Event Sourcing and Outbox patterns
- Knowledge of FinOps for cloud messaging cost governance
