Job Summary
Senior Metallurgist responsible for initiation, planning, monitoring, reporting and closure of large material development and emerging technology projects. Acts as Materials Subject Matter Expert for the Industrial Group including pump and valve products; provides technical leadership across manufacturing sites and product platforms; develops and executes material projects to meet commercial needs; identifies and mitigates material-related cost and technical risks; partners with Industrial leadership to develop advanced material capabilities and drive execution based on best practices; collaborates with external technical communities and maintains cross-functional accountability across global teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years leading cross-functional teams on complex material technology and associated technology projects
- Four-year college degree in an applicable field and five years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience managing material technology projects including teams with engineering & production located across multiple global sites
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats to middle and senior management
- Willingness to travel internationally and domestically up to 10%
- Strong proficiency in lean principles or business-system culture
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally and operate as a change agent
- Background in welding, castings, heat treatments, and corrosion prevention preferred
- Experience with manufacturing and machining processes
- Knowledge of fluid handling equipment (pumps, compressors, valves, controls) preferred
- Military certifications and audits knowledge preferred
- Strong manufacturing background with companies that produce metal products
- Must have a valid passport; travel internationally and domestically up to 10%
