Job Summary
Lead preconstruction estimating for complex mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection projects by developing competitive conceptual, schematic, and final estimates. Collaborate with leadership and subcontractors to evaluate opportunities, prepare scope sheets, and manage bid invitations. Review plans, specifications, and RFIs to perform quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff and Excel, while attending jobsite walkthroughs to assess conditions. Mentor junior estimators and support value engineering initiatives. This role requires a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two from home. Candidates will bring 15+ years of regional construction experience and deep expertise in healthcare, laboratory, and utility plant environments.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of construction estimating and preconstruction experience
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of local subcontractor markets, union environments, pricing structures, and construction costs
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement practices, and preconstruction processes
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Sage, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and related estimating tools
- Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
