Job Summary
Lead the full estimate lifecycle for complex, large-scale jobs, preparing electrical estimates across conceptual through construction-document phases. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs by reviewing drawings, specifications, and models to quantify labor, materials, and indirect requirements. Develop estimates using multiple pricing methods including unit rates, historical benchmarks, and supplier quotations while establishing assumptions, contingencies, and escalation factors. Reconcile progressive estimates by comparing versions, analyzing variances, and recommending corrective updates to cost models. Communicate findings through narratives, executive summaries, and presentations for owners, designers, and leadership. Manage trade partner bid analysis, normalize proposals, and validate pricing and lead times for major equipment. Evaluate value options, modular construction, and risk reviews to optimize distribution strategies and procurement sequencing. Maintain cost intelligence by updating unit-rate databases and benchmarking against historical data. Mentor junior estimators and provide technical guidance to ensure consistent estimating standards.
Required Qualifications
- Seven or more years of progressive electrical estimating, preconstruction, project management, project engineering, or field experience with a general contractor, electrical trade partner or similar construction organization
- Demonstrated experience estimating semiconductor, battery, life sciences manufacturing, data center, or other process-intensive facilities
- Proven ability to develop complete estimates at multiple design stages, identify missing scope, lead trade partner bid analysis, and balance cost, risk, schedule, constructability, and project objectives
- Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, labor productivity, equipment procurement, low-voltage systems, I&C interfaces, process utility connections, and testing and commissioning requirements
- Ability to read and reconcile incomplete and complete design documents, including drawings, specifications, P&IDs, one-lines, controls information, equipment data, and digital models
- Proficiency in detailed takeoff, unit-rate and assembly development, conceptual estimating, estimate reconciliation, historical benchmarking, and estimated-versus-actual analysis
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Working proficiency with digital takeoff, estimating, document-management, and collaboration software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or comparable platforms
