Senior MEP Commissioning Engineer

Job Summary

Lead commissioning activities from planning through project closeout for multiple active projects across the New York metropolitan area. Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and documentation while overseeing pre-functional inspections, functional performance testing, and integrated systems testing. Perform field inspections to verify equipment installation and system performance, then coordinate closely with contractors, design teams, facility owners, and agency representatives. Manage documentation including checklists, test reports, and issue tracking logs, and prepare final commissioning reports. Utilize PMIS and project management tools such as Facility Grid, Procore, and Unifier. This role requires physical ability to walk active construction sites, climb ladders, and work in diverse weather conditions, with occasional night or weekend availability for system shutdowns and facility cutovers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field (Additional 5 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • 10 years of engineering or construction experience
  • 5 years of commissioning experience
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, commissioning processes and construction operations
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to walk active construction sites and access mechanical and electrical equipment rooms
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated equipment locations
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments
  • Local travel between project sites required
  • Occasional night or weekend work may be required to support system shutdowns, testing activities & facility cutovers
  • Physical ability to perform field inspections
  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions
  • Extended periods of standing and walking, possibly on uneven or challenging terrains
  • Climbing, bending, kneeling
  • Working long hours
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs
