Senior Medical Staff Services Specialist

Job Summary
Serve as the key Medical Staff Office contact for local CMO, medical staff leadership, committees, sections, and departments, providing MSO resources for continuity of medical staff organization activities. Manage all local medical staff office duties, including working closely with the system credentialing office on initial appointments and provider reappointments. Participate in other hospital committees as appropriate. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, five years of healthcare experience including one year in medical staff or credentialing functions, and certification as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager or Provider Credentialing Specialist. Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission and HIPAA standards is preferred. Join a team delivering outstanding care in northern Michigan's largest healthcare system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field
- 5 years experience working in a healthcare environment
- at least 1 year of performing medical staff and/or credentialing functions
- Certified or eligible as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM)
- Certified or eligible as a Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
- Strong ability to work independently
- ability to work as part of a team
- working knowledge of Joint Commission
- working knowledge of HIPAA
- working knowledge of other regulatory standards as they relate to Medical Staff Services
- vaccination or lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella
- flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter
- approved medical or religious exemption for flu vaccine
