Job Summary
Senior Medical Science Director/Sr. Medical Director at Genentech provides clinical and scientific leadership for medical affairs across the lifecycle, designing, executing, and monitoring medical strategies to generate and communicate medical evidence that informs practitioners, patients, and payers. The role requires deep understanding of medical strategy, regulatory and payer considerations, and the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include clinical study design and management, scientific engagement with internal/external stakeholders, Congress planning and medical/scientific content review, and acting as guardian of compliance, ethics and safety. The position collaborates within a network of experts, leads fit-for-purpose teams in a matrix environment, and may involve up to 35% travel. Required Qualifications
- Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g. PharmD, PhD, MD etc.)
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience
- Experience across Medical Affairs domains including data analysis, data interpretation, medical writing and reviewing, medical strategy development, external engagement planning and execution
- Experience with pre-approval drug development trials and/or post-marketing medical evidence generation, including expertise in controlled and observational study designs, data analysis
- Understanding of US health care environment including payer landscape and evidence-based tools
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships with external stakeholders
- Preferred: Neuroimmunology experience
- Location: South San Francisco; travel up to 35%
