Job Summary
Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist responsible for performing routine and special hematology tests, coordinating new procedures, and resolving day-to-day lab technical problems. Leads and coordinates laboratory operations within the section to ensure reliable patient testing and timely services, monitors quality control and performance improvement activities, ensures compliance with accrediting/regulatory standards, and maintains confidentiality of patient information. Requires a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field, 4 years of clinical lab experience (including rotation in the appropriate section), and active licensure/certification (ASCP/AMT/AAB) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist. Proficiency with computer applications, strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and the capability to manage stress in a clinical laboratory environment. Familiarity with laboratory safety, regulatory requirements, and quality systems; ability to supervise and coordinate a lab section; and willingness to perform duties across routine and specialized procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education Required - Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Work Experience Required - 4 years experience (one year of which is in the appropriate clinical lab section) in appropriate clinical lab under a qualified Director
- Licensure/certification - Current license in the state of practice (if applicable). ASCP, AMT or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
