Job Summary
Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist in Hematology responsible for performing routine and special tests, coordinating implementation of new procedures, and assuming supervisory duties within the laboratory section to ensure reliable patient testing and timely services. Role includes monitoring performance improvement/quality control activities, ensuring compliance with accrediting/regulatory standards, maintaining confidentiality of patient information, and supporting the supervisor/director. Requires 4 years of clinical lab experience (including at least 1 year in the appropriate section), a bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science, state licensure if applicable, and ASCP/AMT/AAB certification. Strong computer and data-entry skills, effective verbal and written communication, ability to work independently, and proficiency in managing regulatory and quality activities within a controlled environment are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- 4 years experience (one year of which is in the appropriate clinical lab section)
- ASCP, AMT or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist
- Current license in the state of practice (if applicable)
- ASCP Certification Maintenance Program (for incumbents certified on or after January 1, 2004)

- Ability to work independently and handle stress in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of regulatory/compliance and quality improvement in laboratory operations
- Experience with supervisory coordination of laboratory sections
- Ability to adapt to regulatory standards and maintain confidentiality
- Experience analyzing complex data and troubleshooting analytical instruments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
