Job Summary
Develop and own the Italian medical strategy for Rett syndrome from pre-launch through launch, aligning European scientific vision with local clinical practice and patient pathways. Design and execute disease-education initiatives, lead medical launch readiness including scientific narratives and internal training, and coordinate with Commercial, Market Access, and Regulatory colleagues to ensure a cohesive, compliant go-to-market. Further develop Italy-wide KOL networks and expert centers, lead high-impact scientific exchanges and advisory boards, and support congress planning and publications. Strengthen partnerships with patient advocacy groups, integrate their perspectives into evidence generation, and contribute to real-world evidence, registries, and post-marketing studies. Establish medical governance, SOPs, and compliant ways of working while acting as the single-country medical authority and strategic partner to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- MD, (PharmD, PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in life sciences
- 10+ years in Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, or related roles within biotech or (smaller) pharmaceutical companies
- Strong experience in rare diseases and/or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Deep understanding of the Italian healthcare system, reference centers, and national rare disease networks
- Excellent communication skills in Italian and English
- High ethical standards and strong understanding of medical compliance in Italy and the EU
Desired Qualifications
- Background in neurology, paediatric neurology, neurodevelopmental disorders, or rare diseases
- Experience in pre-launch and launch medical activities, ideally in a first-in-class or early-stage product environment
