Senior Media Systems Engineer

Job Summary
The Senior Media Systems Engineer is responsible for transforming the capability and flexibility of how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide. This role involves technical implementation of broadcast production systems and cloud-based infrastructure supporting content acquisition, production, and distribution. The engineer collaborates with management, vendors, and trade organizations to design and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and resiliency in media operations. Key responsibilities include modernizing legacy media systems, coordinating construction and upgrades of facilities, and developing project plans to advance Disney’s technical posture. Candidates should have a strong grasp of video/audio technologies, and experience with complex technical challenges in broadcasting.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of broadcast engineering experience
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of baseband/IP video, audio and digital compression, transport systems, audio/video encoding/transcoding techniques and formats
- Knowledge of file transfer acceleration technologies and techniques.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Familiar with SMPTE standards for broadcast television and video production/streaming environments
- Knowledge and experience with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms
- Knowledge and experience with major media systems and the vendors that supply them
