Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Project Engineer leading mechanical design for high-performance HVAC systems across diverse buildings. Responsibilities include directing design efforts for load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts, and detailed design documentation; developing project specifications aligned with codes and energy standards; overseeing large-scale thermal plant systems (steam, hot water, large cooling systems); client and stakeholder coordination; contributing to design reviews and value engineering; researching mechanical options and presenting findings to support decisions; ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and energy efficiency practices. Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field, 8+ years of mechanical design experience in a consulting environment, and preferred PE license. Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360, Trane Trace 3D, and MS Office; strong leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of mechanical design experience in a consulting engineering or A/E firm environment
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by a U.S. state licensing board is preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in Central Utility Plant design, including steam generation and distribution, hot water systems, and large-scale cooling infrastructure
- Working knowledge of HVAC control systems and integration with building automation platforms
- Proficiency in design software such as Revit, BIM 360, Trane Trace 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate technical and operational challenges
