Job Summary
Develop schedules and plans governing engineering development and delivery of aircraft seating products while serving as the primary technical point of contact for external airline customers and industrial design firms. Design and modify aircraft seats using 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, Pro-E, Catia) to meet customer and OEM requirements, generating details, assembly drawings, and bills of materials. Support the full product lifecycle by building prototypes, performing engineering testing, and resolving manufacturing problems through collaboration with cross-functional teams. This onsite role at Collins Aerospace focuses on developing next-generation seating to enhance air travel comfort, safety, and cost efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company's immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience working with CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, Pro-E, and/or Catia required
- Experience with full product life cycle development using 3D modeling in a production environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products
- Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
- Familiarity with FAA requirements
- Project leadership experience on technical development programs
- Experience designing parts made from various manufacturing methods including machined metals, sheet metal, thermoformed plastics, injection molded plastics, and composites
- Experience in the application of GD&T in the creation of technical drawings
