Senior Mechanical Piping Designer

Job Summary
Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop process and site designs for energy infrastructure systems. Produce complex 3D designs and models of sites, facilities, pipelines, supports, and foundations. Review work in progress for accuracy and adherence to company, client, and industry standards. Provide leadership to design and drafting staff, including mentoring, coaching, and supervising Mechanical Designers or Drafters. Coordinate external training and ensure the team utilizes the latest industry technology and best tools. Communicate with clients to resolve design requirements, communicate project status, and prepare reports as requested. Travel to field locations to make sketches and take dimensions.
Required Qualifications
- Expert skills using AutoCAD and Autodesk family of products for 3D modeling and drafting
- Expert skills using CADWorx family of products (including Plant, P&ID, Spec Editor, and Isogen)
- Expert knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure design
- Expert knowledge in plant layout, piping, and support and hanger design
- Expert knowledge in pipe, valves and fittings and corresponding material and dimensional specifications
- Bachelor or Associates degree in a related field or applicable certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter curriculum
- Five or more years of experience developing complex 2D and 3D designs, design processes and inspiring innovative approaches
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable DMV record
- Ability to make decisions and find alternative solutions to problems
- Ability to provide clear & concise direction to assigned staff
- Ability to communicate within a dynamic design team, often with contacts external to home office location
- Ability to solve complex problems and strive for innovative approaches to the design maturity process
- Ability to establish & maintain standards, processes & systems within a design team
- Capacity to conduct and participate in meetings with senior management
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends
- Must be able to travel (expected to be less than 20%)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with other 3D software such as Revit is a plus
