Job Summary
Review all plans, mechanical/HVAC drawings, and conceptual drawings to create detailed estimates from Basis-of-Design documentation. Prepare quantity take-offs and itemized lists for diverse industries including healthcare, commercial offices, labs, and data centers. Solicit and obtain multiple bids from subcontractors and suppliers, then analyze them for conformance to specifications, material costs, and labor rates. Resolve pricing questions via RFI process, evaluate change orders, and conduct site visits to determine material and labor requirements. Maintain a centralized cost estimating database, analyze completed projects for cost discrepancies, and recommend improvements to reduce future variances.
Required Qualifications
- BS or BA
- 5-8+ years of experience in Estimating, Construction Engineer/Project Engineer, or related duties in general contractor estimating and purchasing
- Open to considering individuals looking to come out of the field operations and into the preconstruction division
- Requires excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel) and well-developed budgeting, purchasing and organizational skills
- Earn and maintain trust by demonstrating honesty, accountability and reliability
