Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer role within a UK defence-focused engineering delivery team. Provide mechanical engineering support to clients during development and analysis of mechanical systems and equipment, produce diagrams and technical specifications, supporting calculations and design evidence/justifications, and deliver design reviews and presentations. Lead and influence key design decisions, liaise with cross-disciplinary teams, and mentor less experienced engineers. The role involves working within a multi-discipline team across the UK (Glasgow, Bristol, Reading) with opportunities to develop a tailored career path, and a flexible/hybrid working arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- BEng (Hons) or MEng in a relevant STEM degree
- CEng or path to CEng
- Technical report writing skills
- Experience in design/delivery of mechanical systems or equipment through the design lifecycle
- Piping/pump systems, mechanical handling equipment, mechanical-structural apparatus
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering software
- Willingness to learn and understand new systems and equipment to meet project deliverables
- Knowledge of defence standards or similar (advantageous)
- Experience in production of design deliverables (e.g., sizing calculations)
- Experience liaising/coordinating with other design disciplines
- Willingness to travel
