Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer role in Xanadu's Hardware Team in Toronto. You will apply your mechanical design, thermal management, and vibration-control expertise to develop rack-scale quantum computer hardware. Responsibilities include modeling all elements of complex devices, designing and producing robust mechanical solutions, and owning the mechanical aspects of photonic/electronic assemblies. Strong background in mechanical design, thermal management, and producing complex assemblies is required, with experience in thermal simulations, GD&T, and working in multidisciplinary teams. The role focuses on delivering temperature-stable, uniform enclosures and integrated rack solutions for quantum computing hardware, with collaboration across engineering disciplines and exposure to manufacturing techniques for metal and plastic parts. Our base salary range is CAD 140,000–180,000, with equity and benefits; location is Toronto, Canada.
Required Qualifications
- BSc or higher in mechanical engineering or relevant related discipline
- 5+ years industry or academic experience in a relevant discipline
- Self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with people of all disciplines on complex projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with thermal simulations to achieve optimal temperature stability and uniformity in small enclosures
- Proficiency in GD&T
