Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer in AECOM's Scotland Water Team. Hybrid role with Perth office. Responsible for feasibility studies, outline/detailed design and construction support for water projects; produce plant layouts, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications (including WIMES data sheets, valve/equipment schedules, lifting strategies, headloss calculations, and P&IDs); collaborate with civil, electrical, process, and mechanical teams; conduct site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers; participate in design reviews (HAZOP/HAZIDs/ALMs/SWIFTS); line manage and mentor junior/graduate engineers; perform checks on mechanical deliverables. Emphasis on innovation, flexible working arrangements, and opportunities for Chartered Engineer progression within a global infrastructure firm.
Required Qualifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer status
- Proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, technical specifications, and calculations with confidence and precision
- Hands-on experience in delivering innovative solutions for water and wastewater engineering projects
- Ability to manage and mentor junior/graduate engineers
- Experience with design reviews (HAZOP/HAZIDs/SWIFTS) and multidisciplinary coordination
