Job Summary
Plan and conduct complex mechanical engineering assignments with minimal supervision, modifying established guidelines to meet project requirements for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems. Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate tasks to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and performance objectives while solving unique design issues through innovative approaches. Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs and enhance work quality, establishing guidelines for junior staff to improve problem-solving capabilities. Manage up to eight professionals, participating in team planning, resourcing strategies, and hiring decisions while mentoring technical development. Establish and maintain client relationships to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions, securing repeat work and organic business growth through strong technical delivery. Work regularly from the office alongside the project team to support collaboration and delivery excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent certification
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably within a consulting environment
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and best practices
- Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems using innovative approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external agencies
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools
- Project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage mid-sized to large projects
