Job Summary
Lead and coordinate complex engineering projects, providing technical direction in the design and delivery of advanced remote handling systems for fusion applications. Design and develop electro-mechanical and robotic solutions from concept through detailed design, applying systems engineering principles to define requirements and verify designs. Produce technical documentation, set standards, and mentor colleagues while supporting procurement, manufacturing, and testing of robotic equipment. This role requires regular onsite presence at the Culham site in Oxfordshire, typically 3-5 days per week, with a salary of £57,117 including a specialist allowance.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering council recognised mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in design and delivery of complex electro/mechanical or equivalent devices/systems
- Experience in managing designs and design teams
- Experience in design substantiation analysis using hand calculation or finite element techniques
- Competent in generating technical documents and specifications
- Ability to work as part of a larger team or group
- Regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week)
- Complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in using a CATIA v5
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with a professional engineering institution
