Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for leading the design of mechanical systems and components within projects, overseeing CAD models/ drawings with GD&T, performing hand calculations and simulations (ANSYS/HyperWorks/Siemens Simcenter), leading junior engineers, liaising with suppliers and external partners, and delivering on time and to specification. Strong emphasis on technical leadership, design optimization, engineering analysis, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced, in-house engineering environment in Oxfordshire. The role requires an engineering degree (preferably Chartered) with 5+ years of relevant experience and proficiency in Siemens NX or CATIA, plus experience with ANSYS/HyperWorks/Siemens Simcenter, engineering drawings, GD&T, and supplier liaison. The position offers a collaborative team culture, on-site facilities, and involvement in world-class road, rally and race car projects.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (desirable)
- Typically 5+ years’ relevant experience
- Extensive competency in Siemens NX or CATIA
- Good understanding of ANSYS, HyperWorks, or Siemens Simcenter
- Strong experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, hand calculations, engineering specifications and supplier liaison
- Experience supporting or guiding junior engineers
- Strong understanding and practical application of engineering fundamentals
- Ability to make sound technical decisions with appropriate validation
- Ability to lead small teams or technical workstreams
- Ability to prioritise effectively across multiple activities
