Job Summary
Manage marine system technical support for Royal Canadian Navy Non-Combatant Platforms, including propulsion, maneuvering, and auxiliary systems. Plan and execute engineering tasks to meet key performance indicators while overseeing documentation updates, design calculations, and engineering changes for piping, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Conduct root cause analysis on equipment malfunctions, perform risk assessments, and develop solutions for deficiencies. Lead intermediate and junior engineers by delegating tasks, coordinating work, and providing mentorship. Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and documented work scopes for external solicitation. This role supports the Thales LCMM & Engineering Team in designing innovative solutions for aerospace, defense, and security sectors.
Required Qualifications
- Direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR
- Positive Controlled Goods assessment
- Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the marine industry
- Bachelor Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
- Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in a Canadian Province, transferable to Ontario, Nova Scotia or British Columbia
- Language: English (Essential)
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, the Canadian Industrial Security Program, the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard
- Experience in delivering marine in-service support of operational assets
- Previous experience working with a defense contract
- Team leadership experience
- Cohesive team player with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Proactive, highly engaged professional dedicated to identifying and resolving complex operational problems
- Demonstrated Project Management experience
- Language: French (Desirable as a first or second language, with English second or first)
