Job Summary
Lead responses to engineering change requests by assigning parts and sub-assemblies, conducting root cause analysis, and driving redesigns for field failures. Direct cross-functional teams on programs and projects while representing engineering in developing the product roadmap. Create design concepts using SolidWorks, analyze them with DFMA and FEA, and generate all design review records and analysis to support part design. Develop timelines, cost estimates, and inspection plans for supplier qualification, then oversee testing to verify product safety and efficacy. Provide mentoring to developing engineers and report program status to management. Occasional evening and weekend hours required; some travel to project sites, labs, and suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- 10+ years of experience developing mechanical components and systems for new products
- 8+ years of experience performing mechanical engineering hand-calculations
- 8+ years design experience designing structural components and hardware, gearing and/or drivetrains
- 8+ years of experience utilizing FEA, DFMA and design for cost in the development of new products
- 5+ years of experience using 3D CAD software
- 5+ years of experience defining design validation tests
- 4+ years working in an environment with Stage Gate Product Development Processes
- 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks
- 10+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours
- Some travel will be required
