Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for structural analysis and design of military airborne equipment such as racks and secondary structures, providing analysis, design inputs, and documentation to support airworthiness certification; collaborates with IPTs, ensures environmental requirements (shock, vibration) per MIL-STD-810, mentors team members, and contributes to testing and root-cause investigations. Onsite role in Richardson, TX with security-clearance requirements and relocation options.
Required Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with finite element analysis software for structural considerations (ANSYS Mechanical or similar)
- Experience with the calculation and documentation of modal analysis, internal stress loading, fatigue, and safety margins
- Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar) and the ability to apply best practices with said tools
- Knowledge of military standards such as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, and MIL-STD-1472
- Experience working with standard form factor industry standards such as EIA-310, ATR, or VITA
